There is a hex part that is fitted inside the implant internal hex connection, permitting to measure 1) the needed cuff height of the abutment and 2) the needed angulation of the angulatd abutment or the multi-unit abutments

--Agulation measurement scale to determine the needed angulation of the abutment to achieve the best parallelism between the implants.

--For measurming the needed height of the abutment.

As a first step, by manually adjusting the metal arrow indicator to be parallel with the other supra-structures /implants, and also according to the occlusal curve and the desired abutment emergence. After deciding the desired anterior-posterior position of the metal indicator, comes the second step, which is seeing at which angulation measurement does the upper part of the metal arrow indicates to (the upper numerical angulation scale) .

The metal arrow is usually removed when the guide is only needed to determine the desired cuff height of the abutment, which will be determined using the graded scale found at the base of the guide, so the arrow may be removed to permit better visibility of the markings
