During religious ceremonies and rituals, people wear masks, becoming embodied by spirits, animals, or other deities, transforming into something other than themselves.

Alternatively, masks used in gatherings where people conceal their true identities, such as masquerade balls, serve as symbols of "tacit understanding," where even if someone's true identity is predictable, silence prevails.

Masks create a "void," allowing people to play different roles and share a certain narrative.
