Pit-Road 1/144 Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Air Cushion Craft "Type 1" Plastic Model Kit D04 The LCAC-1 class Air Cushion Landing Craft (LCAC) is a hovercraft-based landing craft developed and operated in the United States. The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force procured six of these craft between 1993 and 2000 to be deployed on the Osumi-class transport ships. The LCAC's hull is made of light metal and has a rubber skirt all around the underside of the hull. It is equipped with two lift fans for buoyancy and two gas turbines for propulsion, and navigates using a variable-pitch propeller at the stern and a swivel thruster. It has a carrying capacity of approximately 50 tons and can transport one Type 10, Type 90, or Type 74 tank, or four armored vehicles or large trucks. The crew consists of five members: the captain, engineer, navigator, deckhand (deck engineer), and loadmaster. Initially, it was treated as a boat carried by the Osumi-class transport ships, but in April 2004 it was upgraded to a Self-Defense Force vessel and named the No. 1 type air cushion boat, and belongs to the 1st Air Cushion Boat Squadron, which is under the command of the 1st Transport Squadron, which is composed of three Osumi-class transport ships. The 1st Transport Squadron was reorganized from the Escort Fleet to the Mine Warfare Group in July 2016, and in October 2020 it became part of the newly formed Amphibious Warfare and Mine Warfare Tactics Support Unit (Amphibious Tactics Unit). * 1/144 scale plastic model kit * Includes etched parts for mesh and other details * Includes TPE skirt parts for sailing configuration * Includes decals for all ship numbers from 2101 (Air Cushion Boat No. 1) to 2106 (No. 6) * Finished size: Length 186mm, Width 101.5mm * 1 ship included * The image shows the product assembled and painted. * This product is a plastic model kit that requires assembly and painting. * Assembly and painting require separate adhesives, tools, paints, etc. * "Plastic Model" is a registered trademark owned by the Japan Plastic Model Manufacturers Association. * This product does not include adhesives, paints, tools, batteries, etc. To safely enjoy plastic models, it is important to avoid high temperatures, high humidity, and direct sunlight, and to build them in a well-ventilated area.
