Developed based on the F-104, it made its first flight in 1955.
Capable of flying at altitudes of over 20,000 meters and equipped with special cameras, it was used to gather intelligence on communist countries, including the Soviet Union, during the Cold War.
Modified versions are still in operation with the U.S. Air Force.
