"I am Tokyo" is a new notebook featuring Tokyo, following Milan, London, and New York, in the popular "I am the City" collection by artist Carlo Stanga.
Each notebook is only available in its respective city.
Tokyo is known for its vibrant urban landscape, and the precision of its subway system and the ant-nest-like intersections are just some of its characteristics.
This city has a dual nature, beautifully balancing the vibrancy of one of the world's most populous cities with a quiet, meditative side.
This is Carlo Stanga's view of the contrasting city.
On one hand, bullet trains speed by, while on the other, Mount Fuji quietly watches over the skyscrapers, and sacred places like Senso-ji Temple also exist.
The latest in the "I am the City" collection, "I am Tokyo," showcases Carlo's fantastical and unique perspective on Tokyo's balance of evolution and tradition. The notebook and its design express an homage to Tokyo,
and Carlo's perspective and unique art are depicted not only on the cover but also inside and on the postcards.
"Designing Tokyo is like exploring a planet made up of values I love:
Creativity, respect for the public good, inspiration, and beauty.
My mentor, Bruno Munari,
taught me about Japan's creative virtues when I was a student.
Since then, I have continued to admire this place. Drawing Tokyo is a blessing for me."
—Carlo Stanga
